Our first Autism Awareness Event was a complete success. Interested parents, grandparents and loved ones filled the capacity of the Evangelical Community Health Education Center, Lewisburg.  The Event was held
April 18th, 2005 to raise awareness of Autism and promote education of Autism and the assistance that is available to children and young adults.

Susan Colon, the founder of Autism-advocacy.org sponsored the event.

Thank You...We want to thank our location sponsor -Evangelical Hospital- Niki Hockenbrock, Mike O'Keefe, Our speakers, Becky Laubach, Julia Robinson & Melisa Engel.  Weis Markets-Charlie Breneman & Mike Yocum, Daryl of the Italian Terrace, Bucknell volunteers, Erin & Courtney, Marilyn & Bob Hyle, Walmart, Cole's Hardware and The Faustina Gallery.

Pictured above is Julia Robinson, School Psychologist, CSIU and Gene Brosius, North Western Services.
Both work extensively in helping children with
special needs, including children with Autism.
Julia spoke on the variety of services provided by
the CSIU to school aged children.

A Special Thanks...Most of all I want to say thank you to my husband and kids for whom without them, this event would not have occurred. Marcos gave me a card that night (from my husband) which read,
"Mommy, I do not know all the things you are doing for me and other kids, to make our lives better, but someday I will, thank you for being such a great mom."

Of course it brought tears to my eyes.
My life is more rewarding having my family, my sons teach me everyday - -it is my honor to help them and other children in anyway I possibly can.

Susan Colon, the founder of Autism-advocacy.org, spoke briefly thanking the many parents, grandparents and loved ones who came to the event in support of her event and in improving the lives of children and adults with Autism.

Many thanks to you all for making this event the positive, wonderful experience it was!

Please visit the interactive art exhibit

displaying the wondrous talents of the children whose artwork will remain on display through the month of April.

In addition, we would like to share with you a blurred video (to protect the children's anonymity), and the great the sound of laughter,
happiness and fun they were having at the event, in the next room where Bucknell Students were providing art related activities.
It was very important that this event be children friendly - I want all of our children to be celebrated!
